The food is tremendous, and you will choose from 3 outstanding selections.

Choice #2 Kentucky Hot Brown, open-faced ham, turkey, tomato sandwich, smothered in cheese sauce
Choice #3 Grilled Chicken, baked potato and salad
(Please indicate your meal choice with your reservation.)

All meals are served with flowerpot bread, choice of 3 dessert and beverages.

Following lunch we will travel to The Museum of the American Quilters Society, in Paducah, Kentucky, designed to exhibit works of art created by today’s quilters.

The $2.2 million construction costs for the Museum’s facility were supported entirely by Bill and Meredith Schroeder of Paducah, KY, the museum’s founders. This couple had earlier founded the American Quilter’s Society.

In 1983, they became interested in quilting. After attending the National Quilting Association show in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, and the Houston Quilt Festival, they decided they would bring attention to the extraordinary work today’s quilt makers were creating. The first annual AQS Quilt Show and Contest were held in Paducah in 1985. The first issue of American Quilter magazine was published that same year by Schroeder Publishing.

When the Museum opened in April 1991, its collection contained fewer than 85 quilts on loan from the founders. Since that time these and many others have been donated to the museum, bringing the collection to more than 184.

We will have a guided tour though the gallery and will also be given time to examine the quilts and their detailed labels. You will find yourself surrounded in color not only with the vibrant fabrics, but also by the 9 beautiful stained glass windows inspired by individual quilts.
